IHSP Chicago Hostel at Damen CTA

I stayed there twice in my 3 week trip in America. Staff are super friendly and the location is great. If you're a light sleeper this may not be the place for you as a few of the rooms are right next to the common area. This hostel also has cooking facilities.

1st timer and is was awesome!! Actually cooler than staying in a hotel... Definatly will do it again!!

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the bathrooms were in great condition.

This was a great place, clean with a nice big common area with a kitchen, tv, couches, etc. and beds were comfortable.

Only hostel I stayed at in America so can't compare it to much usa wise but was a great hostel with good communal areas and all that jazz

Absolutey loved this hostel. I was travellling alone and made some great friends. Everybody is super friendly and helpful. If you just want to chill at the hostel there's always something to do and people to talk to ! Highly recommended. Great staff :) They really do accomodate the guest really well.

We really enjoyed our stay at Chicago IHSP hostel. Staff where friendly and helpful, with lots of helpful information around the lobby about the city and how to get to different places. Overall the hostel has a lovely friendly vibe and is situated in a great area only a train ride away from the main city. Would definitely recommend staying here!

I stayed at the hostel for two weeks and I had a great time. The hotel receptionists realy managed to catch the right atmosphere ;)

Great hostel. The atmosphere is relaxed without being dirty. The bathrooms are shared - but they are private. There are multiple bathrooms that have one toilet, a sink and a shower with a locking door. It is just like being in a bathroom at home. This was a huge perk.

I had a nice stay bu the first two days were though. Initially I was sent to a room without either windows or air-conditioning. It was warm in Chicago. After some complains I was relocated and I thank the guys for this. But think that Hostel mananger should rethink about how to accomodate singles in rooms. Out of that, the place is safe, the environment is nice and it provided me with an economic and convinient housing solution during a 5 days stay at Chicago.

Internet sucks takes an hour to load a web page not clean bugs crawling around bedding only two tiny blankets and a pillow that's so thin I even folded in half doesn't equal a full pillow if the tv is in use its boring staff wasn't to helpful it's not like what they say and super close to the L train its a good 5 minute walk to the station overall take the money u r spending to stay here and get a hotel room you will be much much happier

The hostel is located near some interesting stores and restaurants and the subway is really close. The hostel was always clean and the staff was friendly. The room is not big but comfortable. I really recommend the hostel for young people

I had cancel the reseve before 3 or 4 weeks, but sitll have to pay guarantee money. So unreasonable.

This hostel has a big inconvenient: it is very noisy, because of the streets and the guess, when we were there.

IHSP Hostel is absolutely fantastic! I stayed four nights in a private room with my friend who came to visit Chicago from Europe. The staff was nice, friendly and helpful. The fellow guests from around the world quickly became my friends around the kitchen table and out on bar crawls. It was so easy to figure out Chicago with the help of IHSP's wall of ideas for local fun and map of directions to the hottest places in the City next to the front desk. Free fast Internet, nice big clean showers, and the option of free pancakes for breakfast every morning were a few things that made the place feel like I was at an nice hotel rather than a hostel. The rooftop deck is probably what I enjoyed the most. It serves the vital role of letting you have a place to go on property that is perfect to just hangout and party with new friends or play music anytime day or night without bothering the other guests. The view of the city and skyline from up there is picturesque. Not to mention the fact that IHSP is right in the middle of cool & hip Wicker Park with endless places to drink dine and experience Chicago's famous nightlife. All in all We had a blast! I'll for sure be back this summer!

This hostel is a hostel that stuff welcome you if you are white. They never said hi or how are you to me while they talked to white people very friendly.

I stayed in the female 10 beds room, and it was super noisy because it is next to the common room. Guests are allowed to have a party there till 1 AM!

Finally, this place should stop the "free shuttle" scam. It basically means CTA Blue Line. WTF!

Great hostel. Very friendly staff, and very comfortable facility. I stayed in the dorm room, and it was a bit noisy because its located right next to the kitchen and common area, but what do you expect, its a hostel with many people. Also, they do have quiet hours, so it does quiet down when sleeping. Great place...was actually sad to leave by the end of my stay.

Clean and tidy, with a great student feel. The guitars were a great addition (and keyboard). Location was handy for train. Lots of restraunts nearby, highly recommend
